Most importantly, I had the cherished opportunity to reunite with my only daughter and her husband, sharing precious moments that are now etched in the tapestry of my memories.
Visiting my daughter in New Zealand with James was more than just a vacation; it was a soul-nourishing experience that enriched my perspective and invigorated my creativity. As we explored the lush forests, rugged coastlines, and majestic mountains together, I felt a profound sense of connection not only to the land but also to the loved ones beside me. Amidst the laughter and conversations that flowed effortlessly, I found inspiration in the simple beauty of shared experiences and cherished bonds.

Workshops: What better way to ignite the flames of creativity than through workshops? This year, I am thrilled to announce a series of workshops designed to inspire and nurture artistic talent. I started the year with a gel printing and mixed media painting workshop in Chemainus, and I have more to come to Qualicum Beach in the Spring. I am also drafting a workshop specific for the garden lovers this summer, and another gel printing for beginners class at one of our local resorts. More updates to come.
Walking for Inspiration: Amidst the whirlwind of artistic endeavors, I will continue with my "Walking for Inspiration" video series on my YouTube channel. With each step, I embark on a journey of exploration and discovery, capturing the beauty of the world around me and channeling it into a source of creative inspiration. These videos serve as a testament to the profound connection between movement and creativity. Join me on this fun filled voyage as we wander together in search of inspiration, one step at a time.
Collaboration with Author Tina Biello: Art and literature intertwine in a spellbinding collaboration with author and friend Tina Biello. Together, we embark on a journey where words and visuals merge to create a symphony of storytelling. Through this collaboration, we aim to blur the boundaries between art forms, inviting audiences to explore the intersection of imagination and interpretation. I will be interpreting her poems from her latest book “The Weight of Survival” through mixed media, and bringing them into the visual world. Plans to exhibit together are underway, stay tuned.
Participation in the Take Up Space: In May, my artistic endeavors take center stage as I proudly participate in the esteemed Take Up Space. Taking Up Space or T.U.S. is a grassroots female focused community global art exhibition. Taking Up Space means that we are valid artists who make work in this patriarchal society and we believe we are worthy of taking up the same space as men in this art world. Celebrating diversity, empowerment, and the unyielding spirit of creativity, this exhibit serves as a platform for artists to make their voices heard. With each stroke of the brush and every carefully crafted piece, we aim to challenge perceptions and ignite conversations that resonate far beyond the confines of the gallery walls. Return of Central Island Studio Tour: Mark your calendars for the much-anticipated return of the Central Island Studio Tour June 1-2. The Central Island Studio Tour takes place in the spring annually, featuring studios in the Central Island Art Guide. Each year art studios across the region open their doors for the weekend and welcome visitors offering hands-on art experiences, demos, talks and presentations. Few coordinated opportunities exist for artists in our region to showcase work without commission or steep fees. Access to promotional platforms are expensive and inaccessible for emerging artists. As doors swing open to reveal the inner sanctuaries of artistic expression, visitors are invited to embark on a captivating journey through the studios of local artists.
Solo Show at the McMillan Arts Centre: November brings the arrival of a solo show at the McMillan Arts Centre in Parksville. Against the backdrop of this cultural hub, I will unveil a collection that reflects the essence of my artistic journey. With each piece infused with passion and purpose, I invite viewers to see the world through my eyes. Invitations to the opening reception are being drafted.
